Sodium 15N-Nitrite (Na15NO2) is a white deliquescent salt, with a solubility of 84.8g/100cm3 in water at 25°C. Na15NO2 is not a hygroscopic compound and it melts at 271 ° C. Above 330° C(in air) sodium nitrite decomposes to sodium oxide, nitric oxide and nitrogen dioxide.
In CPI GEORGIA LTD production of sodium nitrite occurs by the following scheme:

In this way purity of product is <99% and enrichment of 15N isotope is also <99%.

Sodium 15N-Nitrite (Na15NO2) is used in different fields of chemistry. The most known applications are the following:

  • Commonly used in inorganic and organic synthesis as 15N stable isotope source;
  • Used in medicine-biological studies;
  • Potassium 15N-nitrate is used in agricultural researches.

At present, CPI Georgia can produce 15N salts such as Sodium 15N-Nitrite, Sodium Nitrite (15N), 15N labeled Sodium Nitrite product with isotopic richness above 99% 15N. Other than 99% enrichment, offers different kind of 15N Sodium Nitrite enrichment such as 60%, 10%, 5%.
